Emperors sacred poop! it's new years tomorrow, and I feel like I've only had vacation for bit over a week. Actually, I feel like the year just zoomed past in a flash and so much happened and then again. Not really that much, just big things.
Me and Marie broke up in January, ending a 3+ year relationship. quite the mental helterskelter rollercoaster to start the year on ^^; Looking back, I'm still amazed at how hard it hit me, even if I'd sensed it comming. Took me a good half year to really get myself together.
Ofcause, me being me and not considering emotions as something that should affect me, I went right ahead with my birthday plans and threw a massive 30 years birthday party. It was a blast and I was so stressed between the break up and arranging a 40+ guest party, I'm suprised I didn't keel over with an anyurisme.
Sadly that kinda set the whole tone for the year =/ me utterly ignoring what was going on, on the inside and just soldiering on regardless.
Looking back, it's a wonder I didn't utterly break down, there were several warning signs. me flat out having a panic attack during my third drivers exam for one.
speaking of driving, which leads me to a round of more positive events =3 I got my drivers license, only took me like 1½ freaking year ^^; but I got it and went and bought myself a money devouring ricecooker.
Also started running this year, actually made some headway in my continuing effort to get rid of my belly.
In 2010 I also met Dorte <3 we dated and broke up again.
And that was roughly 2010 =/ wow. strangely enough, I look by and have this sense of running headlessly without really knowing where I was going, but in wild panic that I wasn't going to make it on time. what the hell was the hurry?
That's gotta be one of my New Years resolutions. less headless running around, slow the fuck down, by the Emperor!
New Years resolutions for 2011.
- Less stress. Both at work and in my personal life. This is possibly the most important one, I won't make another year as strung out as this one.
- Stand fast. This'll maybe take some explaining. I've discovered that I've gone soft, for lack of a better word. I've, without really realizing it, turned into a sycophant. always aiming for the compromise, trying to make everyone happy and not rub people the wrong way. And I won't be like that, I dislike that sort of person. So this year, I'm gonna see if I can find myself again, ofcause I don't wanna be a mywayorthehighway guy either, just actually say no when it strikes my fancy, let people know when I think they're idiots or selfish and so forth. well at any rate, it's something to work on.
-Train. I really made some headway this year with training, but not as much as I wanted, I blame my stress really. so 2011 I wanna get back in the saddle and actually get in shape so I can look at myself in the mirror and not think I could do so much better.
-Write. I've written quite alot in 2010, more than I expected I would being on indefinet leave from the Writters Guilt after me and Marie broke up. But I'd like to get even more into it in 2011.
So, what are the odds of me managing all that in a single year. ...meh, 50-50 I'd say. But If can look back next new years and say I atleast got control of my stress and any one of the three others I'd rate 2011 a good year =)
But still, 2010 would have been a hell without my friends and family and in a way, they're pretty much the same to me. Cause they say "you can't pick your family" well, can we truely pick our friends? Family might put up with more shit, cause we'll you're related. But friends, what are the odds of meeting true friends? family you're born into, Friends you can look for, but really, it's up to chance if you find any, like gems, fourleafed clovers or perfect sunsets.
So if there's one thing, I'm really grateful for, it's the people closest to me, the ones that's been there when I needed them the most or just been around even if I didn't need them.
....anyways, that's enough sap outta me. See'ya next year peps ^^/
Emperor protects.
This is my blog (well Duh) where I will muse at life in general, mine in particular, rant and rave about heretics and dumb people and general unfairness of beforementioned life. aaaand the occational stuff that cheers me up =) sprinkeled with interests and random stuff.

Warhammer 40k movie
[WARNING WARHAMMER 40K GEEKERY AHEAD]
So, Ultramarines the movie dumped into my mailbox the other day, but I have yet to see it cause I want to enjoy it with my WH40k cronies.
But, this and some of my favorit WH40K novels that I've read these past days I've been ill has got me thinking.
Which novel would make a good Warhammer 40k movie??
well my obvious choice would be the Eisenhorn trilogy. But while the story is excellent and the characters are capturing and the plot twisted and entertaining. Making Eisenhorn into a movie (Gerad Butler as Gregore Eisenhorn and Ann Hattaway as Alizabeth Bequin and Jude law as Cherubael oh hell yeah)
But the problem with such a complex story is that it get the LotR syndrom, it becomes too damn long =( the Rings movies are great, but really. the third was a chore to get through.
And while I love the Eisenhorn books dearly, I'd hate to see them compacted into a movie trilogy and it'd be sad to have just one made. But Xenos could stand alone, But the really interesting stuff only happens in Malleus and Hereticus =/
I mean, the titan Scene for one thing or victory parade in Malleus. No, Eisenhorn needs to be all three movies and that sadly makes it non viable as a first choice for a movie production.
Which on the subject of titans. Titanicus could be a possible candidate also, but while it'd been some serious compacting and cropping. there's a shitload of subplots in that story.
It'd either demand some serious Morris the Explainer or just let the viewer figur out what the hell is going on their own.
So as much as I'd see some of the brilliant engine duels remade for the big screen, I don't think Titanicus would make it past the WH40k fans and action and scifi geeks.
while I got my hands on Abnett's works. I shoot down any idea of Gaunts ghosts. there's just to many bloody characters ^^; a tv series like Band of brothers maybe, but not a movie.
Sandy Mitchells Commisar cain are hilarious action comedies, problem is that much of the charm of the novels is the "internal" dialog. so they work best in writting and I have trouble seeing how that could get translated properly to the bigscreen. so sadly, No Cain and Jurgen.
Graham McNeill's ultramarines books. Uriel Ventris and Pasanius bold adventures, again, there's a shitload of books to choose from. But I'd go with Nightbringer, it's the first book, the characters gets introduced and the plot is fairly simple, so even non 40k fans should be able to grasp whats going on.
I'm not sure if uriel and the other Astartes are entirely relatable consittering they're superhuman, but again, it'd still like to see it on the big screen. =3
Dark Apostle by Anthony Reynolds, this one I'd love to see if nothing more for the sheer novelty of the bad guy being the protagonist and take my word for it, the Word Bearers are definetly the badguys and yet Anthony writes them so well, that occationally I catch myself rooting for Marduk, even if all he wants is to see mankind slavebound and worshipping the gods of chaos.
But the books are well written, the action is intense, the characters and plot intriguing and dark apostle works as a standalone book/film.
No way in hell it'd make PG-13, but fuck that. we're making a warhammer 40k with chaos marines, the most fanatical kind there is, let people see what happens when you take religion to seriously. you get religious verses tatooed on your eyeballs, that's what happens.
Not a likely first choice, but it's steer up a serious pot of controvesy =)
No. my first choice for a Warhammer 40k Movie would be Execution hour by Gordon Rennie. It is a spetacularly well written book. Imagine Master and Commander, in space and gothic.
The action is awesome, the ship battles are so well written that anything you've seen on starwars or Startrek seems dull, so think what it'd look like live action ^^
there's some seriously interesting characters and I think that the novel would need very little trimming to work as a movie.
And Abaddon the Dispoiler as the big badguy, damn not since Darth Vader walked through that door in the first starwars movie has there been a villian with so much menace. ["Show me" said the Despoiler in a voice as cold and harshly unforgiving as the vacuum of space]
So really, it's a tie between Xenos and Execution hour. But since Execution Hour translates better and can stand alone (well so can Xenos, but I've already listed the reasons why it shouldn't =3 )
so there you have it ^_^

Christmas attended and survived.
And the holiday, celebration of jesus christ birth and santa clause's annual air raid, known as Christmas came and went.
Sweet Emperors favorit seat cushion has this december be busy (so busy >_<)
Like the first two weeks of my vacation has just come and gone in blur. wosh! all gone -_-
Anyways, swung by Rikke and Michael at quick one day stop over on my way to visit Dorte.
Then I spent some four days at her place. mostly scared out of my wits at the prospect of meeting her family at Christmas dinner.
But I survived, even if her awesome dad and uncle tried to kill me with piles of delicious food ^_^
But as most of you most likely have heard one way or another, we also broke up that weekend.
well, not much to say really, mostly because I've already told the story 117 times, so feels kinda redundant to repeat here.
But short version is, we work alot better as a couple of friends, than we do as a couple. So after talking it through, we agreed to stop dating and see if we could get our friendship back on the road. (here's to hoping ^^d )
So I returned the isle of devils again and ignoring every little inkling of sanity, crammed my days up till christmas with gift exchanges, chores (which doens't explain why my appartment look like utter crap still) particular tuesday had me so stressed I almost started bleeding from the ears.
Anyways. Christmas came and went in a flash, good food, good company, even if it cost me a belly ache, but I got myself some awesome christmas presents =D
But then as I finally powered down, the bill came. my immune system finally allowed to fight what ever shit was floating around my body, utterly shut me two for the last two days. where I've pretty much spent lying in bed, sleeping or reading warhammer 40k (which will spawn another post, but more on that later) watching scrubs, scifi and monster movies.
but finally I feeling better =)
new years around the corner. gotta think up some resolutions.

PRESENTS, PRESENTS EVERYWHERE
Or just scattered about liberally =3 I've more or less finished my christmas shopping, one or two to go.... maybe three, but who's counting anyway (utterly ignoring he has a list that he keeps tallied and colour themed)
amazingly enough, really. As I got started on the presents a bit late this year, but still managed to scrape together a decent pile and if I have to say so myself, I done up with a nice brown paper&wax seal giftwrap theme this year (shamelessly stolen from Louise's theme last year)
In other news, my Warhammer 40k DVD. collectors edition of The Ultra marines movie should be here ANY day now T_T I was actually half expecting it to drop in today. ah well, patience, patience.... patience...where's my damn DVD XD
Story wise, I'm slowly picking up writting again, partly due to one of my not finished christmas presents is a piece of writting. ^^; and also because I've rebooted my character in Cado's post apocalypse univers, inspiring me hard enough to hammer out 5 pages of writting in a single evening and I do realize that is less than impressive to those of your people who finished the Nanowrimo challenge in November, but hey, gi'me a break =3 I start small.
Emperor Protects (and appearently he plays the vuvuzela in the Inception soundtrack XD )

shitty days, annoying dark days, with a few specs of light.
So, to sum up. I've had better weeks than this one that's thankfully come to a close.
The long version is this. [warning, rant ahead]
First off, me and Dorthea had a little headon at the beginning of the week, nothing serious, but we both have tempers and arn't afraid to say if something bugs us. so while I have no problem with confrontations, they don't really cheer me much up.
So break my spirits further, murphys law has been in full effect at work lately. highlights are these, my work shoes have displayed a remarkble detail with their "respiratory system" that allows your feet to breath. while suppose to let air out when you walk, I've discovered they suck water in and hold it in very very well. so I can either choose between wet and cold feet, or constantly arguing about why I ain't outside helping with the christmas lights.
the god damn infernal heart pager system (trauma and heart disaster calls goes over the pager system) problem is, the signal mast is really old. but appearently this concept is very hard for highly educated doctors to grasp, so several times this week, we've (I) been approached with heart pagers that "doesn't work" and each and every time I run tests on them and conclude they just fine and have to spend half an hour explaining it to aforementioned supposedly highly intelligent doctors.
"well you just have to fix the antenna then"
"holy shit doc, you're brilliant! we hadn't thought of that, good thing you can spare time from your busy shedual to grace us mere mortals with your gleeming nuggets of wisdom"
"you're most welcome"
"but say doc, that bag you pull your golden eggs out of, you wouldn't happen to have around 100.000 in lose cash. you know, new antenna and transmitter relay ain't cheap and we're already over budget with over a million. so help a lowly maintanence man out here"
...strangely enough, they never have anything intelligent to add to that. except that if it doesn't get fixed it could mean people could die. thankyou, here's you tights and cape Captain Obvious, go fight crime!
now then, thursday I took off early, to go get winter tires on my car. The drive out there through the snow was somewhat anxiety provoking. the ice skating scene from Bambi (Noel) comes to mind ^^;
Well then, I get to the garage and everyone is very friendly and helpful and I'm told it'd be ready in half an hour and they'll wash it for free a service. I get myself a hot coco and plan to stress down before the drive home through rush hour.
I should have known better, I've sat down less than five minuts before the mechanic comes up and explains two of my winter tyres are to worn to legally drive with, one so much they arn't comfortable putting it on.
and they were, one had a stretch with no tracking marks at all >_<
I was so, SO embarressed. I just stood nodding while the elderly mechanic explained to me the rules for tires and the 1,6 mm of traction mark they legally had to have. I know this, I went over it every freaking drivers test I had.
I didn't think to check the tyres before I looped them into my trunk that morning >_< expecting them to be fine, but I should have FUCKING checked. GOD!
To add to my nice rosy color, I'd forgotten completly about the lugnuts on my wheels being locked lugnuts, where you need a special socket to be able to loosen them. Was it in my car, ofcause not >_< I was in my damn tool box at home, but didn't stop me from more or less upending my whole car.
In the end, I ordered two new winter tyres and said I'd come by with the socket, so they could change the tyres when they came in. So now my car stands parked at Top service, cause I was sure as hell not driving anymore in this weather with summer tyres.
The bright spot on this was that everyone there were very nice and understanding, doesn't change that I felt like lying on the garage floor and have them run my car over me.
and just to add insult to injury, my summer tyres are so worn, so come spring I gotta buy a whole new set. sigh >_<
and then we get to today, saturday. started well enough, woke a few minuts before my alarm clock so I could just lie and wake up. I had an appointment at Nimat for a fullbody massage and was really looking forward to it after such a stressing week. I should have seen it coming >_<
I check DSBs homepage and it said nothing about delays or rail working in the city. But non the less, I went in good time. about 30 minuts before I'd usually have left home. I was still half an hour late for my appointment DX
it took me fucking 45 minuts to get from Vanløse to Dybbøls bro, where I decided to just walk the final distance consittering the hords of people jostling for a place on the few busses.
I was in an almighty rotten mood when I got there, but aleast my masseur got my shoulders relatively loosed and I didn't have to pay full price. so left in a somewhat better mood.
But when DSB fail, they really fail >_< I got a train, telling it went all the way to the central station, after it leaves the station it changes and say it only goes halfway, then you gotta switch to the central station. that train then says that you gotta switch on Dybbøls bro and when you get there, lets you know there's no train to the central station.
christ almighty! if I'd know that, I'd taken my chances with the metro, which was delayed like god knows what.
well then. the aforementioned glimps of lights were ofcause Dorthea, sending me sweet messages and listening to me rant over the week. <3
Hanging out with Frost and watching Kick-ass, which was kick ass.
and having a story get together with Eva and Sara, we're we nommed Tacos till we could have rolled and then talked about our stories. it was awesome and I feel inspired to do some writting again.
Emperor protects
ps: on that note; yay! Dan abnett gonna write the third part of the inquisitor trilogy in 2012 ^_^

train = stress
Right then, more or less back in shape after a serious bout of the flu. Which just for variation manifested itself as crippeling headarch and fever. so I spent the better part of five days in bed, doing nothing that listening audio books ... or book (Thief of Time by Terry pratchett) and watching anime, finally got around to finishing Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood, which incidently is made of awesome =D I'm not too proud to admit I got moist eyes during the last two episodes. (as a certain warthog says "it just gets me, right here!" ) and I saw a shitload of monster and slasher movies.
But in the end I recovered and returned to work this tuesday.
I must admit, it was saddened to hear our receptionist's husband had passed away, during the weekend =/ granted, he was at the end of his rope, riddled with cancer cysts. But I'd hoped they'd atleast have a few months together before he punched his ticket =(
Also, just to top it off, thursday, the day he was buried, my boss informed that our old supervisor wouldn't be returning from his sickleave (he keeled over couple of months back, they discovered a tumor in his head and he's been operated twice) anyways, his wife called and told my boss he wouldn't be returning as they don't expect him to last long enough to celebrate christmas eve. =/
working at a hospital, you sorta expect death to hang around, we got a hospice section for one thing, so anyone admitted there you know is gonna check out feet first.
But just seems different, when it's people that arn't ... well admitted as patients, die.
anyways, that aside. Friday was a freaking madhouse o_0 my phone just wouldn't shut up, one crisis taking the other. well, nobody were in danger of dying.... well, then again, some were. But nothing that got so serious that was cause real worry.
well, around noon I was pretty ready to throw a fit and fling my phone out the window >_<
SO good thing I got off early, quick trip to the dentist to have my Grindcare tryout evaluated (electronic piece of equipment that monitors you bite during sleep and zaps you if you grind your teeth) anyways, it was declared that while I do bit down during sleep, it was nothing out of the ordinary. so that wasn't the cause of the howl in my ear.
That over and done with, I grabbed my bag and jumped the train, heading for Jutland.
I hate taking the bloody train during fridays and sundays. it's freaking stuffed and I always get the chatterbox, drunk and squeeling kid.
So though it's cheaper than the car, and in theory I can sit and rest, write, read and what not. it just stress me so very much.
So while it cost more to drive to Jutland, it's both faster and proberbly more relaxing as I go my own pace (around the speed limit atleast) and the only people I have to deal with are the ones I've invited myself, so I should be able to manage =P
well, at any rate I survived the trip and arrived in Hobro where Dorthea picked me up at the station and we spent a wonderful weekend together <3
totally made the traintrip worth it ^_^
and now, a new week looms in the horizon

Muse wanted
Female mythical figure of inspiration, where art thou T_T
I've run dry, creatively so to speak =/ and it's really really annoying.
I don't read as often I use to, a side effect of having gotten a car as most of my reading use to happen during transport to and fro.
And for some reason I just can't kickstart my creative drive =/ I've more or less dropped out on Warhammer 40k. I trying to get back into it, gonna try and hang out with Thomas and his gamer pals, see if it can reignite my spark of passion for dark gothic war.
More so, my well of will to write has dried up =( I have the ideas, I have piles of ideas. But I just can't manage to sit down and get to it.
Hopefully there'll pop something up soon, something that'll make me wanna create again. I had a real nice spout here the other evening where I was chatting with Dorte and she challenged me to draw her Gaia character and it turned out really well and we had fun drawing together, I felt inspired.
I want my connection to the force back, like when I (appropriatly) wrote my Starwars Phantom menace alternat script in 4 days. It was awesome just pouring out ideas.
anyway, enough whine, as there is no cheese to go with it.
here's my drawing of Dortes character in case anyone's curious.

Journey to the vest
Hep-Hey!
and I have returned from the dark reaches of Jutland. \^^/ (but since I had to leave a girlfriend there, it is not an entirely good thing T_T )
Anyways, due to some annoying rules at work about HAVING to use vacation days, I have a little handful of days off around this weekend. and I took of for Jutland tuesday after work, true to form there was a bloody pile up on the road all the way from herlev to taastrup and it was raining as usual (why does it always rain when I go to jutland)
and it was very windy also, had a bit of heartstopping moment on the Storebælt bridge when a truck got cut by a sudden gust of wind and pulled halfway into my lane, just as I was passing "meep" was my response ^^;
Anyways. arrived in Klodemølle and visited Rikke, Michael and the little lad Loke for a few days. as always, good fun and we saw the entire Last Exile anime =)
Thursday, I packed up and drove to visit Dorte, bringing soup (Rikke's idea) as Dorte had been sick the day before. amazingingly enough I found it first try ^_^ well, did take a wrong turn in a roundabout in Viborg, but only long enough for me to find a place I could turn around and go back.
Then followed a 4 very pleasant days with Dorte. main event being introducing her to Scrubs and meeting my new dad inlaw (always intimidating, particularly when the man has a wall so covered in skulls a predator would be envious) joking aside Dortes dad is very nice guy and I think we got along famously =)
Other than that I got a tour of her town and I got to try her homemade lasange, delish I tel ya ^^
well, there was the occational bickering, we're both headstrong and stubborn. but nothing to put a dent in the experience ^_^
but alas, all good things comes to an end, today I had to head home. So I kissed her goodbye (several times =3 ) and headed for Zealland, making a pitstop on fyn visiting my grandparents, which was a nice little breather.
So all in all, spetacular awesome vacation I've had =D
btw, some of you who know me well, or know of me .. or might have heard a rumor whispered behind locked doors and barred windows. I'm rather fond of bacon, so I thought this little kitty picture was fitting ^_^

random stuff and procasting
Well, technically I should be packing. As I have a few vacation days comming up plan to visit friends in jutland and a certain sweet girl <3
But as I'm a lazy butt and can't really wrap my head around all the stuff I have to bring... not really that much stuff when I think about it... but I have to get up from this chair and get it and stuff it into a bag =P
So post of random; comming your way!
I've always had a fascination with buildings, particularly older styles, with wood, bricks, stones and soul. I find much of todays architecture cold and empty, just piles of steel and glass and empty architect egos. granted there are exceptions to the rule, but overall I don't much care for that last 40 years of architectur.
I love this house: so airy and light, might be a bitch to heat in the winter, but I can just imagine it during springs days or fall.
again, looks amazing, but gotta be a bitch to heat in the winter.
a little to artistic for my tast, but I like all the greenery =)
if I ever had a room like this, I most likely never get around to read all the books ^_^ but there's just something about a old school english study =)
This staircase just takes my breath away, it is simply amazing. I think I could stand around admiring it for hours, just taking in all the details.

Lightning rod for accidents and guardian angels
So, got my own dumb ass electrocuted today ^^; Dumb mistake, I was trying to help a collegue figur out what the heck was wrong with a industrial coffee machine, and we kept turning on the power, making measurements and turning it off, tweeking with the various wires and mechanical parts.
well, at one point I stuck my hand in, to point out a possible problem, the real problem was that the power was still turned on >_<
ZAP right on my left hand ringfingers knuckle, not unlike the feeling of having a finger caught in a mousetrap. obviously I jumped half a foot in the air
And as is the rule, when we get shocked, we gotta check into an ER to have our heart checked out. just as precaution as even a little jolt can throw your heart rythme helterskelter.
So I did. it was nothing serious I already knew, I've been electrocuted much worse in the past, before I knew just how dangerous it could be.
But somehow it seemed a lot worse, lying there on the bunk. having some 10 different electrodes attached all over as they did a EKG, nurse fussing over me, while a very buisness like doctor asked questions and listened to my heart and consulted a heart specialist.
But as I suspected, nothing serious, few arythmic beats showed, but that might as well just have been the fright as the shock itself. so I was told to take a rest while they filed the paper work.
...trouble is, it got me thinking. cause one thing is getting electrocuted and just feeling nauseaus or numb in a limb or getting a burn for your troubles. doesn't really seem any worse than hitting your head, or whamming your thumb with a hammer by accident. sucks, hurts and you really wish you hadn't.
But we people in white coats, being serious and holding up long sheets of paper with my heart readings on and studying them intently. making it clear that those would determine if I'd have to stay for observation for 24 hours.
it sorta really dawned on me, how close I'd possibly come to get really hurt and could have in the past. sure I know that electricity is dangerous, I know it a whole lot better than the average person, I've seen what it can do. But like everyone knows that a car hitting you at high speed will ruin your day right then and there, but we still walk out into traffic.
I guess it's the same way with electricity. the moment you don't respect it, it'll bite your hand.
But while I lay there and recounted the events in my head, as I knew I'd have to write an accident report. I started thinking about my guardian angel, not a fellow with a particular attention for the small details, when you consitter how accident prone I am, (or he (or she) is bit of a sadist and likes to see me get hurt)
But she (I settled with a she, seems nicer somehow) really comes through when it counts, stuff that've maimed or killed me. She's been there everytime, saving my bacon.
Just a little nudge, just a little soundless word of warning, maybe a little tweek of events that'd otherwise could have turned out really bad. Stepping out of the way by chance as concrets drops on the spot I stood seconds before, water not rising the last two inches to short out the main transformer and having it take out the room with me and my collegues in it. The wrench that slip out of my fingers and drop in the the main board, miraculessly perching just across the main power coupling (best case senario, I'd have no eyebrows and a server case of tinitus)
These and many other cases, just by the smallest turn of events I came through with the skin on my nose, maybe a serious scare, but non the worse for wear.
So here's to my guardian angel, where ever she is. thanks for being there when it counts. ^^y

It has been begun.
Right then. After having talked about it for a while, I've finally gotten around to getting myself a blog.
Two main reasons really. First: Livejournal doesn't really appeal to me anymore. Second: Blog has this nifty little feature where I can keep tabs on all the blogs I read =3
